BNZ Shred

Every day, billions of dollars in old banknotes are shredded by the world's Reserve Banks and turned into worthless waste. New Zealanders had no idea how much they could be paying in unnecessary home loan interest.

To give them a wake up call, we collaborated with the Reserve Bank to access millions of dollars in real, shredded cash. Homeowners opened their mailboxes to find $1,000 in shredded banknotes, discovering the savings they could make by tailoring their home loans with the Bank of New Zealand.

Home loan enquiries jumped 13%. BNZ mortgage lending increased by $600 million. And NZ homeowners saved real money, thanks to a simple direct campaign that recycled worthless shredded cash.
